The team designed the relocation of Pall Life Sciences’ laboratory and office facilities from multiple sites to an existing 120,000 ft2 building in Westborough, including 20,000 ft2 of laboratory and process space, 10,000 ft2 of manufacturing space, 22,000 ft2 of office space, and 21,000 ft2  of support operations. 

Laboratories for chromatography, large-scale column demonstration (and packing), and training were developed for the site.  Contract cell culture manufacturing occupies cGMP ISO 7 cleanroom areas for expression, media prep, upstream process, cold storage, and downstream processing. There are future shared labs for BL-2 and fermenter operations. 

The manufacturing program includes new areas for high purity process skid assembly, machine shop, inventory control, and a quality control laboratory. 

The R&D program includes new laboratories for process development, product development, and analytics. 

The project was executed on a fast-track construction schedule, executing the design and construction in an eight month period.  The move planning consolidated five facilities from three states into the new building over a one month schedule.
